Marianne Genetti - Founder / Executive Director
Marianne has a B.S. degree from the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State University. Originally from Hazleton, Pa., she moved to Orlando, Florida in 1971 to take a position with the Martin-Marietta Company in Contract Administration. Since 1983, she has owned and operated Penn Properties, Inc., a real estate brokerage. In 2000 she returned to school, enrolling in the Nursing Program at Valencia Community College, to expand her knowledge of health matters . Her biography appears in Who's Who Of American Women.
James Pendleton, N.D. - Director
James Pendleton is a primary care physician specializing in a naturopathic approach to family medicine. He splits time between practices in Florida and Hawaii. He integrates allopathic and alternative techniques to help his patients achieve optimal health. Dr. Pendleton has overseen a family practice in Seattle, directed a medical center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and headed the research and development for a nutritional supplement manufacturer in Los Angeles. He also teaches graduate and undergraduate sciences as an assistant professor and has participated in worldwide field research related to ethnobotany. Dr. Pendleton received his medical training at Bastyr University (2000), after achieving a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Florida Atlantic University (1995). Prior to this, Dr. Pendleton served as a US Army paramedic.

 
 
Kristiann Doughert, PhD - Director

Kris Dougherty is currently Professor of Biology and Science Coordinator at ValenciaCollege, Lake NonaCampus. Now in her tenth year at Valencia, she teaches general biology and microbiology at the College. Prior to her work at Valencia, Dr. Dougherty was involved in clinical research in the CNS therapeutic area with Pfizer. She was part of the team that helped bring the drug Lyrica to market. Dr. Dougherty also has an extensive research background in numerous biomedical fields including amino acid metabolism, regulation of blood clotting and fibrinolysis, and growth and metastasis of prostate cancer. Originally from Michigan,Dr. Dougherty earned her BS in Honors Biology from Purdue University in West Lafayette,IN. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and received a National Science Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship. Her doctoral work was done at Johns Hopkins University in the Human Genetics and Molecular Biology Program. Dr. Dougherty lives in the Lake Nona area with her husband and 4 sons. She has been active in the community as a soccer coach, science fair mentor and judge, Cub Scout Den Mom, Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor, member of the School Board of Holy Redeemer Catholic School.She currently serves on the Family Advisory Council of the Nemours Children’s Hospital.

 
 
 


Katy Dovgala- Director

Katy Dovgala is an Information Technology professional who ispassionate about discovering new ways to use technology to solve real-worldproblems. She has worked in a variety of industries, including insurance,brokerage, banking and government.

 

With an M.A. in Intercultural/International Management, Katy hastraveled the world, living and working in countries like England, Japan andAustralia. She recently completed a post-graduate Health Information TechnologyCertificate program at Columbia University in New York and is a certifiedProject Management Professional (PMP).

 

From a global perspective, Katy saw first-hand the diversity ofapproaches to health and healthcare across five continents. For the pastdecade, this perspective was brought home when a close family member sufferedfrom an undiagnosed illness. During this time, Katy experienced the life of anadvocate, spending countless hours with specialists in leading hospitals acrossthe country in an effort to obtain an accurate diagnosis. With a newfoundunderstanding of just how much quality healthcare and knowledgeable advocacycan affect patient health, a new passion was ignited in her to find innovativetechnology solutions to improve patient outcomes.

She is a member of the Community EmergencyResponse Team, the Medical Reserve Corps as well as a Girl Scout Leader and BoyScout Merit Badge Counselor.
